Although we create holsters and stocks for any pistol, the 1911 is our favorite system to work with and our specialty. Springclip

Spring Clip I.W.B. Holsters.

This is a very versatile holster that can be, depending on the weapon, can be carried in many ways. The primary way this can be carried on all weapons is inside the waistband appendix carry. It can also be carried small of the back outside the waistband strong side, small of the back inside the waistband cross draw. One popular mode of carry, on a smaller weapon, is to carry inside any of your pockets.

This holster is available in a number of combinations of leathers and exotic hides. The example shown here is black vegetable tanned leather with snake and lizard skin reinforcement and accents. The spring clip is made for us out of a high carbon blued spring steel by our friends at Springfield Leather Company and is much tougher than the ones you can buy elsewhere in the market.

Hstrap

H-Strap I.W.B. Holsters

Appendix inside the waistband carry is easy and comfortable with this style holster. The H-strap design allows you to take this holster on and off without having to take off your belt. The design also lends itself to creative uses of exotic reinforcement and accent material. The example here illustrates two of our most popular styles natural horse hide with British Tan ostrich skin reinforcement (bottom) Mahogany vegetable tanned cowhide with crocodile reinforcement (top). The exotic skins not only add elegant styling to the H-strap but it also add strength without making the straps too bulky to be concealed. This holster has innumerable possibilities of color , leather and exotic hides. These are great for Commander and Officer size 1911 concealed carry. They are also versatile enough to carry a full size Government model 1911 with a 5" barrel or a large caliber full size Glock as well.

Avenger

Avenger style holsters

The Avenger is a very classic style of holster with one belt slot to the side and one tunnel style belt loop hidden on the back sidetraditionally a high ride 90 degree carry. You can however specify your carry preference when ordering, i.e. FBI style cant or 90 degree draw or both (two belt slots cut in side panel that facilitate an adjustable carrying options). A tension screw is also a standard feature on our Avenger holster for a true custom fit. The example shows a solid horse hide holster in dark brown, however your options in color and hide are limited only by your imagination. These are very affordable and range from $40.00 (like the model shown) to 125.00 like our avenger made entirely out of elephant hide.

Thumbbrake

Thumb-brake/paddle style holsters

This is an example of a traditional paddle style holster equipped with a thumb-brake. We use a custom heavy duty snap, Also supplied to us by Springfield Leather Company, reinforced with carbon fiber laminate or Kydex. Most of the holsters we make for law enforcement officer's off duty carry have to include a thumb-brake. We also make these for people who for what ever reason, do not care for or cannot rely on a friction fit. This model is vegetable tanned cowhide with custom hand tooling with a high gloss finish in black. Our paddle holsters can also be made to incorporate a friction fit with tension screw and can be made for canted or 90 degree carry or both , cross-draw or shoulder rig. All of which come with a single or double magazine pouch for your belt. These can range from $60- $160 depending on the combination of the myriad options available for this model.

Small of the back Holsters

The personal favorite of the President of Shearco Design, the small of the back carry is the ultimate in concealed carry for a larger firearm like a 1911 Govt. model with a 5" slide or even a 6" long-slide model. These are made from a heavy 9oz vegetable tanned cowhide and will stand up to the abuse of being behind the back while sitting.(the most comfortable mode of concealed carry while driving in my opinion). The small of the back carry is also a friction fit and comes standard with a tension adjustment screw. The model in the example is cordovan cowhide with elephant hide reinforcement . A true value at $55.00-$75.00

The standard is a 9-10 oz. cut for the back and 6-8 oz. cut for the front on a two piece. holster – both cut from a Herman Oak Vegetable Tanned side. A two piece holster would be a paddle or thumb-brake style that has a front and back panel that is stitched together. One piece holsters are made from an 8-10 oz. shoulder cut that is folded in half and stitched on one side. Leather gauge is measured in ounces. Consequently 1 oz. of leather equals roughly 1/64th to 1/32nd of an inch. Leather TypeThe foundation of most every holster starts with a piece of either Vegetable tanned cowhide or horsehide. It is tanned using a vegetable based product which makes the leathers easy to mold, carve tool and burnish.Cowhide is very durable and dyes and tools easily and is the reason it is most commonly used.Horsehide is extremely durable and usually much thinner and has a very distinctive grain. It does not dye as easily and is much more expensive. The myth is that it is expensive because it is a better product. This is a fallacy. It is more expensive because it has to be imported due to the ban on slaughtering horses in the USA. The practical reason to choose horsehide vs. cowhide is for a slimmer lower profile fit (concealment holsters for example) or because it will be entirely overlaid with another exotic hide like elephant or ostrich.
